John Miltons Struggle With Society Essay -- Biography Biographies Ess
John Milton's Struggle With Society John Milton, not at all like such huge numbers of different creators and open figures during the English Civil War, is strikingly simple to put inside an authentic setting. As a vocal supporter of the Commonwealth, Milton left a lot of data and works behind to clarify correctly how he fit into seventeenth century England. As Secretary for Foreign Tongues, or Latin Secretary, he worked intimately with a significant number of the preeminent individuals from the counter monarchial system, for example, Oliver Cromwell. As politically dynamic as he might have been, Milton was similarly vocal on issues of religion; he was productive in his works against both the Catholic and Apostolic temples. Milton's convictions and political perspectives were differing and special; in this manner, as Andrew Milner is cited in Thomas Corn's work, Milton was, truth be told, an Independent straightforward as can be (113). Despite the fact that Milton's political, social, and strict perspectives are made amazingly clear through an assessment of the huge group of proof he abandoned, it stays hard to understand the criticalness of his significant sagas, including Paradise Lost, Paradise Regained, and Samson Agonistes. While they are without a doubt critical as reflections on scriptural stories, there is by all accounts a more profound essentialness that relates legitimately to Milton's political and strict convictions. Without a doubt, it appears to be evident that Milton planned not just to retell the scriptural stories, yet to mix them with noteworthiness past insignificant religion. So as to see most anything about Milton, one should initially comprehend Milton's reality; one must comprehend the English Revolution and its recorded roots. The upheaval started in 1579 with the transformation parliament that framed under Henry VIII. Despite the fact that parliament itself w... ...d Corns, Thomas N. Introduction to Racism - Free Essay Example
Sample details Pages: 4 Words: 1338 Downloads: 3 Date added: 2019/02/05 Category Society Essay Level High school Tags: Racism Essay Did you like this example? The word racism is something strong that can be known by people from an early age. Moreover, those who are ââ¬Å"high classâ⬠and learn racism from mentors such as their family members then they tease others so maybe one raised this way and itââ¬â¢s pass down. Although there can be others that just learn this kind of behaviors such as their peers and may think itââ¬â¢s entertaining so that may also be how some turn out to be racist. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Introduction to Racism" essay for you Create order In other words, some people may find it fun to tease those who look different from their heritage, but what most do not see is that not one single race is perfect. Also, when saying a hurtful racist word towards one individual is not just referring to that one person, but the whole race and that can just cause pain towards the people. In the article, ââ¬Å"Racism and Mental Health: Are Schools Hostile Learning Environments for Students of Color?â⬠by Amy Masko who explains how the racism can first come to be known for people and how it can really affect them the people who are victimized by racism. For instance, in the article it says, ââ¬Å" racism that many children and youth of color face in their schooling is an environmental stressor that can lead to depression, anxiety, rage, and other mental distressâ⬠(Masko 62). In addition, one word can really hurt people sometimes in can even scar them for a long period and that can even change their lives. Being young most kids do not see the bad things in each other sometimes they dont even get taught and can be an issue while growing up because one may never know why racism is a bad thing. Moreover, why should racism still continue if one knows that every race is always going to be around they can not be avoided and just because one specific race does not like another race then deal with it because the more people like one another the more satisfied life would be. When will it be a complete end against people who are racist? Therefore, when asked by anyone there is no real responses because it does continue on. In the article, ââ¬Å"Is American Repeating the Mistakes of 1968?â⬠author, Julian E. Zelizer brings up the history on how horrible it must have been, but refers what goes on in the present moment. As one can see how society is living in the past and if this continues how will that affect the future? Will there ever be a solution? For example in the article, Zelizer writes, ââ¬Å"In July 1967, during the aftermath of the devastating race riots in Detroit, Michigan, and Newark, New Jersey- each of which started after incidents of police brutality against African Americans.â⬠Now if one takes a moment to look back and witness the horrific that a race suffered and those who are not victims imagine living a life where half of the daily lives are targeted from always being for having a different skin color and not being able to pass around through the city calmly that must be irritating to do the daily task. Although not every race will always get along and sometimes itââ¬â¢s not the race the reason why they do not get along sometimes it could be because how a person acts. Even though if one is unique by being strange with someone else finds that uncomfortable, and they donââ¬â¢t like that one person the other person they do not need to say racial words. Also, when a person does anything bad it doesnââ¬â¢t prove that their whole people are the same way. Next, if people focus on the history that went on, but at the same time see the present and notice how from each race there are those who achieved the good life has to offer and have proven with a su ccessful career that shows how people do not give up. This just proves that every race has itââ¬â¢s good and bad people, but everyone is different. Finally, there may be one day when racism could finish itââ¬â¢s possible because all people may find the right solution to this problem. There should not be any physical attack against any person and especially because one looks different it should be resolved. In the article ââ¬Å"Police Brutality and Black Health: Setting the Agenda for Public Health Scholarsâ⬠author Sirry Alang concentrates on the blacks who just have bad luck with the law enforcement they are so much hate towards them it may have to do with the color of their skin. But it just goes down many times that it does not stop. The author goes on explaining the way blacks are just targeted in wrong reasons and how society does not do anything because it just goes on and on. He still goes down into details on how the blacks have many obstacles in their lives and the comparison with other race. Also, he talks about society has a big impact on this race that makes it difficult for them to do what they need to get a thing done. Although this race is humans sometimes they just do not get treated that way and every other race should have empathy and thin k how they would feel. Not one person on Earth deserves to be treated like if they were animals. For instance, Alang writes, ââ¬Å"Blacks are significantly more likely to experience police brutality than are Whites, and whiteness affords protection against police use of forceâ⬠(662). This proves right here how there are issues that are not fair there are ones who get treated worse and others who get treated better. Although no one is perfect and everyone feels weak at one point there needs to be a kindness to help make everyone come together. Overall, there have been many horrible events that took place in America. While the time passes if racism does not continue then maybe life will be back to normal. In addition, if there are changes maybe all Americans might get along and that can prevent from violence occurring. Also, every race goes through some tough time just like stress, pain, feeling sick, and working hard to earn money. If all humans show signs of peacefulness and no longer being rude or disrespectful with one another instead have manners it can be a relief because this can end fights, arrests, and even deaths. Although everyone is not the same that does not mean that itââ¬â¢s okay to be racist and many have families to prove that. Nevertheless, th e law can convert were racism was no longer allowed if anyone disobeyed that then that person has to be disciplined and that can help out victims by making their lives simpler. Meanwhile, having solutions on those who have what it takes in order to make it big to get good benefits because everyone has a purpose and a dream to accomplish. So there needs to be an understatement on all race because all do not think same and some do crimes, but they should be treated fairly. Also, if all the history was forgotten that can be a solution right there because step by step it can end racism for good. Although no one was born to always get along with everyone, by just showing manners or not talking to the people they do not like it makes things much better. In addition, I am a Hispanic and I have been victimized by racist individuals because of my accent and my family not having a lot of money. So, I would really like to see a change in order for more people and their families do not go through the same thing I did. In conclusion, the positive with racism being extinct that will not only help society but the future children as well and grandchildren generations will learn the right way of how to treat each human that looks different from their families.

Act One of Romeo and Juliet Essay - 1786 Words
Act One immediately engages the audience. Do you agree with this statement? How does Shakespeare achieve this? Act One of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare does indeed immediately engage the audience. Shakespeare does this by using several language techniques to create an interesting opening scene. The Prologue gives a summary of the play but does not give away too much of the plot, in order to keep the suspense. Shakespeare tells of the great tragedy that will follow. The sonnet form is used because it is more interestingâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦They are usually dressed in bright, colourful costume, they walk jauntily and they talk jovially between themselves to create an immediate light-hearted, happy air. The two servants poke fun at each other and use sexual innuendo to create an immediate sense of humour in the play. They begin by using wordplay to create humour on the first four lines and then move on to boasting to one another about their fighting skills. Sampson says, I strike quickly, being moved to mean that he is quick to fight when he is angry. From line ten, the servants begin to use words with two meanings, one of which is sexual. Words like thrust, stir (to have sex), stand (have an erection) and maidenheads (virginity) are used. Sampson and Gregory continue to use sexual innuendo to insult each others manhood and brag about their own virility. Sampson says that t is known I [he] is a pretty piece of flesh to mean he is an attractive man but Gregory replies insultingly by suggesting that he is not able to have an erection. In the present case, strategic focus of QFF is observed to be the proper allocation of funds for each activity so that maximum number of visitors participates at the Planting Festival. This can be done using social media and television that is comparatively lower than the print media. Moreover, there is also a need to decide about the target market. In the present case, it is for the target customers belonging to economy as well as wealthy class to maximize the revenue earnings (Sheila Stokes White, 2011; Lake, 2017) 4.1.2 Product Mix. Product mix is referred as the goods or services that are provided to the customers. Considering the Planting Festival, it can be inferred that product mix comprises the opportunity of the customers to participate in tree plantation, thereby enabling them to view the park, participate in workshops, camps and have their preferable food and beverages. Branding is vitally important for the program and hence can be done with the help of a tagline (Byjus, 2016). 4.1.3 Product Development. Product development in this case entails the upgradation of service quality that is provided to the patrons in the Planting festival. This can also be accomplished by understanding the perceptions of the visitors from New Zealand. For example, intense focus can be organized in the amphitheatre so that patrons can understand the need of planting trees through drama. Similarly, short films can be organized highlighting upon the ongoing environmental issues. These aspects must also be mentioned on the online websites of QFF along with the other tools of promotion (Booksellers New Zealand, 2011; Rouse, 2017), 4.1.4 Product Deletion. There is no such need of product deletion as variations in the services can attract different types of customers 4.1.5 Market Extension. It refers to the use of strategies so that market share can be raised. Extension of the Planting Festival can in turn undertake campaigns on the social media. This is because social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are being used extensively by customers of the present scenario (Rouse, 2017a). 4.1.6 Target Customer Groups. Although all types of customers have been targeted, based on the survey results of 2015, it is logical for the target customers falling in the age ranges of 30-39, 18-29 and 40-49 (The Planting Festival, 2015). Three Year Marketing Plan - Goals and Strategies (Positioning/Branding) 4.2.1 Product. As already indicated, the products (services) that are to be offered in 2017- 18 include workshops, visual arts studio, water treatment facilities and amphitheatre. In case of further success, it is planned that QFF will open Parkland in New Zealand. 4.2.2 Price. A fixed price of AUD 200 will be charged from each customer. Thereafter, the prices will vary based on the amenities used and length of visit. No price will hence be charged for attending the workshops 4.2.3 Promotion. Based on the survey results of 2015, it is optimal to use the website of QFF, social media and television to promote the festival. Moreover, it is planned that celebrity endorsement will be more effective for creating awareness. 4.2.4 Place. Initially, the planting program will be organized in Jinbara Country in 2017-18. In case, the number of patrons coming from New Zealand increases, then it will be organized there itself in 2019. 4.2.5 People. There will be three tiers of employees in the Parkland. Top level management will look forward towards the planning mechanisms of the festival and middle level managers therefore need to look towards respective activities such as marketing, financial accounts, operations and hospitality. The frontline staffs are supposed to directly interact with the customers. 4.2. 6 Process. The process of service delivery can mostly be done by means of online platforms pertaining to the sale of tickets. Special discounts will then be provided in case of bulk purchase. 4.2. 7 Physical Evidence. The huge area of the Parkland is itself the physical evidence. Resource Allocation and Monitoring The estimated income and expenditure shows that net income after tax is going to rise from 2017-19 as shown in table 2 below: Table 3: Estimated Cash Flow Statement Non-financial Resource Implications The non-financial resources include the aspect such as staffing. It is planned that in 2017-18, the total number of employees will be 500, out of which 200 of them are supposed to be hired from New Zealand. Managers and frontline employees from New Zealand can better understand the culture of the patrons, who are from the nation. Accordingly, better strategies can be taken for high-quality hospitality. Monitoring and Reviewing The review and monitoring will be undertaken by a separate body. It will clearly detect whether all the tasks are carried on in terms of the plan. In case of any deviation from the stated budget and marketing plans, timely initiatives will be taken. Conclusions The Planting Festival is to be organized in 2018 at the Jinabara Country. It is decided that customers from New Zealand will be attracted. Tickets will be sold on an online basis so that it is possible to maximize revenue. The tools of promotion mainly include social media, television and website of QFF. Patrons will be able to participate in the planting festival, workshops and view films using eco-friendly initiatives in the amphitheatre. Recommendations QFF is trying to target customers from New Zealand in the planting Festival of 2018. It would hence be logical to get tied up with some Universities and schools in New Zealand, so that the students can visit the parkland and participate in the planting festival. Previous tie-ups will reduce the chances of facing losses in case there are sudden changes in the preferences of the customers to come at Jinbara Country. During the tie-ups, 50% of the payment must be taken in advance as security money. References Booksellers New Zealand. (2011). NZ Mountain film festival biggest turnout ever. Almost to the end free essay sample
Have you ever been through a ââ¬Å"rebeldeâ⬠time? Where you donââ¬â¢t care what you do, what grades you get, or what people tell you. You just did what you wanted to do. I went through that through my freshman year. My mother would always tell me, ââ¬Å"No seas tan rebelde, piensa lo que estas asiendo es malo.(Donââ¬â¢t be a rebel, think about what you are doing is bad.)â⬠But would I listen? No, I never did. I would just ignore what she told me. My friend and I would always get in trouble. We did not care about what the teachers told us and we could care less what they thought about us. We where the ââ¬Å"trouble makersâ⬠of the school. some of our other friends would always tell us to think about what we did. To think about how our future would turn out; how many the things we did would affect us. Itââ¬â¢s not your life we are messing up.â⬠At the end I barely passed my freshman year. My sophomore year I was still the same. I still had my same attitude that no one liked and I also still had the not listening part. But at the middle of the year I started to notice that I should change my attitude because not many people liked my attitude and not many people liked the way I would talk to them. I started to notice that I was doing wrong. I also would think about what my life would turn out to be if I kept up with what I did. I remembered what my mom told me ââ¬Å"Tienes dos caminos escojes el bien o el mal. Pero lo que haces siempre tiene las consequensias. Tambien piensa en como tus hermanas estan mirando lo que tu haces ellas van a seguir tus pasos.(In a short way my mother would try to make me look at what i did was wrong.)â⬠But when I thought about my younger sisters it made me realize that I donââ¬â¢t want my sisters to do the same thing I did. My mother had lost hope, well thatââ¬â¢s what she usually showed me. I wanted to show my mom that I could do better, but not only for her, but it was more for me I needed to make a change for my own good. I finally passed from sophomore and I became a junior. I was a better student then I ever had been. I was so proud of my self. I would usually get one F and I finally got good grades they werenââ¬â¢t the best but they where better then what I use to get. They even elected me for the body of student council president I am proud of my self for doing better. I proved my self wrong and my mom wrong that I can do better then what I did. And now i only have one more year to end school and start colledge.

What makes a good student - all the useful tips to get a hold of!
What makes a good student - all the useful tips to get a hold of! Weve all heard the lectures. Being a good student means going to class, putting on your listening ears, taking notes, and getting those assignments in on time. And for the most part, this advice is correct. Students who get good grades basically do this. If you are not getting the grades you want, however, here are a few tricks that will help you figure out how to become a better student. Pay Attention in Class Sorry, but there is important stuff in those lectures and slides, and you are going to have to focus on the information you are being given. So, heres what you do. Sit in the front row I know, its painful, but youll be thankful later on. Stop texting and put our phone in camera mode Listen to the lecture, take notes, and get a picture of every slide and of everything your professor puts on that white board. Use zoom so it is really readable later on. Make eye contact with our instructor or professor and nod your head often its impressive When You Get Back to Your Room Type up your notes and make a folder for them on your desktop. Just typing them puts them in your head again, and, when you pull them out to study for a test, your memory will be better. And transfer those pictures into that folder too. Date your notes and the photos so you know they go together. Stop Procrastinating With Those Assignments The daily assignments are mostly reading, so the only smart thing to do is not get behind by putting it off. People have tried that old trick of putting the book under their pillows at night hoping to absorb the content it doesnt work. As you read, take notes on your computer If you do this, you have condensed the content and you dont have to re-read the text the night before the final. This does work. Are you getting the idea now? Learning how to be a better student is really learning how to get more organized. Accept Your Failings You are not perfect, and there are those long-range assignments that tend to creep up without your conscious awareness. All of a sudden they are due those essays and papers and you go into panic mode. There isnt enough time. You have a couple of options: Heres where the finesse comes in. remember how you have been sitting in the front row, looking intently and nodding? It may come in handy now. Go see that professor and ask for an extension. You might just get it, since s/he thinks youre a serious student. When all else fails, or if you know our writing skill development stopped somewhere back in middle school, find a reputable online writing service, and get those papers ordered up. So, what makes a good student? Exactly what you are doing now, if you follow these tips!

Personal Management Framework Paper (Evolution of Management Class Essay
Personal Management Framework Paper (Evolution of Management Class - Essay Example Drucker (1999) informs that Karl Marx and many other theorists introduced theories to describe and give final opinion on the concept of two types of workers, however, they were not successful because they lacked pragmatic experience. With the passage of time, conceptual theorizing was there along with pragmatic knowledge of the working scenarios. According to Drucker (1999), the innovator of the concept of efficiency or productivity of the workers in relation to practical knowledge was Fredrick Winslow Taylor. After his description of the concept, the attention of theorists diverted to the efficiency of workers in relation to the augmentation of financial system. It was due to the innovative concept of Fredrick Winslow Taylor that the Taylorââ¬â¢s Scientific Management Theory came into existence and its name is indicative of Taylorââ¬â¢s contribution. Along with Taylor, other theorists like Maslow, Gilbert and many others also worked towards forming a final opinion about the co ncept of productivity of workers. It is because of the stated theories that nowadays, these approaches are applied in actual work environments to increase the efficiency of the workers. This paper discusses my personal framework and addresses the assumptions, value, beliefs, and any relevant practices. In addition, it integrates relevant management theories and theorists that are seminal to the foundation of my framework and includes the role of the manager, worker, and organization in my framework. Present Management Assumptions, Values and Practices The change in the organizational structure by the passage of time is becoming more difficult and gigantic. Time has caused this change and now the real meaning of the productivity in sense of workers is realized globally. Theorists and researchers proposed many theories related about increasing the productivity of workers and by workers, but in todayââ¬â¢s environment none of these theories can be purely applied to the organizationa l structure. The reason behind the imperfection of these theories of management presently is that these theories evolved when the industry was growing and many theorists presented these at the early stages of the growing industries. Some of the theories are applied today by the management. At that time these theories of management were thought likely to be correct to increase the workers productivity at a maximum level. At time of this evolution industries were spreading at a greater pace all around the world. In older days, when industry was growing management was not particular about the workerââ¬â¢s productivity in the sense that the workers are considered as machines and they are not mentally and physically soothed instead only basic need are fulfilled by the management. But now a day workers are not considered as machines and the management has to worry about the other needs of the workers too. Now a day workers have some other luxuries and their basics in term of needs. Tay lor opinions about the organizational structure in terms of its workers and suggests about the basic trait of workers in an organization that numerous workers are not known of their work and still many organizational

Attitude Towards Different Age Groups Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words
Attitude Towards Different Age Groups - Essay Example This essay will discuss peoples attitudes when treating those in different ages in different cultures (Baumeister et al 33). In most European Countries, most young people treat the old harshly. Young people assume that older people are more prone to accidents, slow learners, slow thinkers, and have a rapid physical deterioration. This is an unfair assumption since statistics from the world health organization, show that road traffic deaths involving young people under the age of 25 years are more compared to those involving the older people. In fact, one out of three road accidents involve the younger people. It is unfair for the younger people to assume that the older are slow learners and slow thinkers since there is no evidence to show that a personââ¬â¢s intellect decreases, as one grows older. There is also an assumption among the young people in Europe that older people are always sick. They believe the common myth that diseases are synonymous with aging, which is false sinc e there are many older people who have perfect health and do not look frail or old (Diller 47). Outright prejudice and discrimination towards the old are not only in Europe. In many developed Western countries, the majority treats the youth as the backbone of the future. This has created the image that the old no longer hold their place in society. There is brainwashing of the media, to view the old as people who should not serve anymore. This has, in turn, instilled a negative public image towards the old. Most professions exclude the old and leave them out in essential programs that could benefit them. It is a general view among most doctors that older people are too late for preventive care. This has led to late response to medical conditions in older people. Most receive inferior medical care, particularly when facing minor medical problems such as loss of teeth; hearing loss, loss of vision among others.

Psychiatric Disorders, Diseases, and Drugs Essay Example for Free
Psychiatric Disorders, Diseases, and Drugs Essay In the time span of only one year, roughly seven percent of Americans suffer from some form of a mood disorder (Mood Disorders, n. d. ). The typical person is able to experience moods on all levels but those that suffer from mood disorders get ââ¬Å"stuckâ⬠into a certain mood (Mood Disorders, n. d. ). There are different mood disorders and each one can have differing levels of how much one suffers from it. Anxiety disorders are when anxiety is the predominant feature or the avoidance of the anxiety causes abnormal behavior (Morris, 2010). Anxiety disorders are the most common mental disorder. There are many categories, or subdivisions, of anxiety disorders including specific phobias and panic disorders (Morris, 2010). Schizophrenic disorders are very serious disorders in which the individual experiences a disturbance in thoughts, emotions, communications, and can also experience hallucinations and delusions (Morris, 2010). Bulimia nervosa and tourettes syndrome are also psychological disorders that can be helped through medication. Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder in which the individual is experiencing bouts of both mania and depression in an alternating cycle (Morris, 2010). There can be bursts of normal feelings interspersed between these bouts of mania and depression. Studies have shown that bipolar disorder affects both men and women equally unlike depression which favors the women. Studies have also shown that bipolar disorder is not as common as depression (Morris, 2010). While depression and mania on their own can be linked to outside factors, bipolar disorder is certain to be a biological disturbance, usually genetic, and therefore medication is most likely needed to treat it (Morris, 2010). To treat this form of depression there are four classes of medication that can help (Pinel, 2009). Monoamine oxidase inhibitors, such as Iproniazid, increase the levels of monoamines in the body, alleviating the mood of the patient (Pinel, 2009). The problem with medications such as these is that there are many side effects and some can be quite serious. The most serious being the deactivation of tyramine in the body which can lead to surges in blood pressure which, in turn, cause a stroke in the patient (MAOIââ¬â¢s: Side Effects, n. d. ). Tricyclic antidepressants are another medication route that those suffering from bipolar disorder can take. These medications are much safer than monoamine oxidase inhibitors (Pinel, 2009). Tricyclic antidepressants may, in the beginning of taking the medication, cause the individual to have problems with sleeping, to feel tired more than usual, and can cause nausea (United States National Library of Medicine, 2012). Up until recently, the medication of choice to help those with bipolar disorder was lithium (Pinel, 2009). Lithium is not an antidepressant but rather a mood stabilizer that aids in the transition between mania and depression (Pinel, 2009). Unfortunately there are many side effects that can come from taking lithium which can include loss of appetite, indigestion, swollen lips, hair loss, stomach pain, joint and muscle pain, and many other minor side effects (United States National Library of Medicine, 2012). There are also many serious side effects that may occur. Loss of coordination, seizures, slurred speech, blackouts, hallucinations, and crossed eyes are only some of the more serious side effects that may occur when using lithium (United States National Library of Medicine, 2012). Selective monoamine-reuptake inhibitors are a fourth type of medication that those who suffer from bipolar disorder may use. These types of medication aid in raising serotonin levels in the body. Side effects from these types of drugs include nausea, tremors, drowsiness, dizziness, sexual side effects, and, in rare cases, cardiovascular problems may arise (Ferguson, 2001). Panic disorder is a branch out of anxiety disorder and those who suffer from it have recurring panic attacks where they experience sudden and unreasonable extreme fears or terrors (Morris, 2010). When having a panic attack the individual may experience chest pains, sweating, fainting or dizziness, difficulty breathing and swallowing, feelings of something horrible about to happen or of losing control, and can even fear that they are dying (Morris, 2010). Medications that can be used to help those suffering from panic disorders include benzodiazepines, serotonin agonists, and antidepressant drugs (Pinel, 2009). Benzodiazepines help by relaxing the individual but do carry side effects like tremors, nausea, sedation, problems in motor activity (Pinel, 2009). Serotonin agonists are not fully understood how they help but it is known that anti-anxiety feelings without causing a rebound anxiety episode (Pinel, 2009). Common side effects of this drug include nausea, insomnia, headaches, and dizziness (Pinel, 2009). Antidepressants, as described earlier, can also help with panic disorders and carry the same side effects in the individual as when taken for depressive disorders. Schizophrenic disorders are very serious disorders in which the individual experiences a disturbance in thoughts, emotions, communications, and can also experience hallucinations and delusions (Morris, 2010). Disorganized schizophrenia is when an individual shows signs of often bizarre and childlike behaviors (Morris, 2010). The cause of this disorder is still unknown but it is known that it typically begins before the age of twenty-five (Schizophrenia-Disorganized Type, 2010). There are many symptoms of this disorder and they include difficulty feeling pleasure, speech that does not make any sense, any motivation, delusional beliefs, hallucinations, committing strange and sometimes silly behavior, and inappropriate or bizarre emotional responses (ââ¬Å"Schizophrenia-Disorganized Type, 2010). Treatment is limited but when experiencing an episode of disorganized schizophrenia it is imperative that the individual is hospitalized for the safety of his or herself and the safety of others. Treatment can consist of antipsychotic medications, clozapine medication, and support groups or programs (United States National Library of Medicine, 2012). Those who suffer this disorder suffer from it for life. Bulimia nervosa is when an individual will binge eat and then force themselves to rid of the intake by forcing themselves to vomit. While there is no specific known cause of bulimia nervosa there are some theories of what may cause this disorder in an individual including culture, families, life changes, stress, personality, and even biological factors. To treat bulimia nervosa there has been only one drug approved by the Unites States Food and Drug Administration and that is the use of some antidepressants as this has shown to aid in reducing binging and purging as well as aid in improving eating habits (Bulimia Nervosa Fact Sheets, 2009). Touretteââ¬â¢s syndrome is a fairly common disorder that has the individual suffering from it having uncontrollable tics such as blinking, coughing, and, on rare occasions, blurting out inappropriate words (Pinel, 2009). There is no known cause for this syndrome and, while it usually forms in childhood, many individuals will outgrow it over time (United States National Library of Medicine, 2012). Treatment can include antipsychotics which can help in reducing the tics. However, side effects of this include developing tardive dyskinesia, a movement disorder that affects the lower part of the face (Treatment, 2011). While there are thousands of individuals that suffer some sort of psychological disorders all over the world, there is help out there for those in need. While most medication carries some side effects it is up to both the individual and the prescribing doctor to determine if the benefits of using the medication outweigh the side effects that might occur.

My Definition of Terrorism :: Terrorism, Terrorists, 2015
To me, terrorism is the use of violent actions to provoke fear or terror in a population for the purpose of spreading a message. I agree with Moeller in that terrorism is distinguished from other forms of violence in that ââ¬Å"The victims and the intended audience of a terrorist act are not the same,â⬠1 and ââ¬Å"the psychological impact of a terrorist act is intended to be greater than the physical damage caused. The goal of terrorism is to send a message, not defeat the enemy.â⬠2 Additionally, in regards to Moellerââ¬â¢s questions of whether terrorism is a tactic or ideology, terrorism is purely a tactic among many others, not an ideology at all. I do not believe that actions can be crimes or acts of war. Those are purely interpretations of those reacting to events. In some jurisdictions, terrorism is a crime. At least one nation has chosen to consider it an act of war. I consider these judgments to be separate from the definition of the action. Similarly, the usage of transnational pre-emptive force is irrelevant to a definition. I disagree with Moeller in her assertion that terrorism is targeted at civilians. Terrorism can be targeted at military troops as well, as they are a population. Whenever the nature of an attack is to invoke fear over causing direct damage, it qualifies as terrorism. My definition is broad, encompassing many actions not always considered terrorism, and seeks to avoid entangling terrorism with other topics. Works Cited: Moeller, Susan. 2009. Brain – Psychology
The brain works together in a mysterious way. In 1981, it was discovered that the brain is actually split into two hemispheres, left and right. Each hemisphere of the brain processes information in its own unique way. Each side of the brain carries on itââ¬â¢s own set of task and duties it needs to accomplish, but at the same time, both parts still work together. When deciding on which hemisphere I rely on the most, it can easily be said that I use the left-hemisphere more so than the right. I am a very analytical person who is constantly trying to analyze and solve problems that arise.Iââ¬â¢m very keen to detail and usually donââ¬â¢t understand the overall picture at first, but rather all the small details that make it up. Not only am I good with details, Iââ¬â¢m also great at mathematics and subjects that require a lot of analyzing and paying attention to detail. The right hemisphere is what allows us to see the whole picture instead of the minor details. Even though th e right hemisphere performs the simplest of task, if it is damaged, the person will not be able to recognize some aspects of speech. Looking back at my youth, I wasnââ¬â¢t really into solving puzzles or drawing, both of which the right hemisphere has domain over.It was interesting to read about the different brain hemispheres and how they work together, or in the case of ââ¬Å"split brainsâ⬠against each other. ââ¬Å"Split Brainâ⬠is an operation that can be done, in which the corpus callosum is cut to control severe epilepsy. After the operation, the person basically has two brains that function individually on their own. The brain is such a powerful tool that it is amazing to see how much complexity there is to it.Coon, D. , & Mitterer, J. O. (2010). Introduction to Psychology. Belmont,CA: Wadsworth Publishing.

The Arab Spring During The Middle East And North African...
The Arab Spring brought revolutionary changes to the Middle East and North African regionââ¬â¢s authoritarian republics while bypassing its autocratic monarchies. The monarchical exceptionalism that has allowed these states to remain intact is due to a set of three overlapping factorsââ¬âcrosscutting coalitions, hydrocarbon rents, and foreign patronage. Collectively, these factors explain why most of the royal autocracies never experienced widespread protest. The eight Arab monarchiesââ¬âJordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and the Persian Gulf states of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the UAEââ¬âhold near-absolute power. According to the Gause article, none of the states qualify as constitutional kingships in which the enthroned incumbent exercises only ceremonial influence while an elected parliamentary government makes policy. The regionââ¬â¢s kings and emirs not only reign but they also rule. They are the lead decision makers in naming cabinets, determining major domestic and foreign policies, controlling the stateââ¬â¢s coercive apparatus, and allowing parliaments and judiciaries limited authority (Gause). According to Gause, the first element of the strategic explanation for monarchical exceptionalism is one that links the historical legacy of domestic choices with a permissive international environment. The majority of the monarchies have used the tool of crosscutting coalitions thereby linking alliances of different soci al constituencies to the ruling family. In general, dictators cannotShow MoreRelatedWomen And The Middle East And North Africa1148 Words à |à 5 PagesThe diversities within North Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia (cultural, religious, political, etc.) play a crucial part in the status of women and the key features of gender roles in these particular geographic regions. A Separate Peace And To Kill A Mockingbird Analysis
Ozichi Chinedu SR Spiers EIH Compare and Contrast Essay 15 Dec. 2017 The two novels A Separate Peace by John Knowles and To Kill a Mockingbird both share major commonalities within the text, which take multiple glances to fully comprehend. For instance, one major commonality that both novels share is the recurring symbol that plays a major role in the characterââ¬â¢s lives. That symbol is the tree. This tree that captivates both Scout and Jem in To Kill a Mockingbird, and the tree that shows the bond between Gene and Finny in A Separate Peace. Contrarily, in both texts, the authors use this same tree as a symbol of a loss between the characters. To illustrate, in A Separate Peace the protagonist Gene and his connection to the tree is aâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦He uses the tree by filling it with small items he finds in his house to communicate with the neighborhood kids. ââ¬Å"We were walking past our tree in its knot-hole rested a ball of twine.â⬠(Lee 66). These objects in the tree connected with Scout and Jem because the kids would ta ke them and wait for more, they valued these small tokens of benevolence from Boo. Notwithstanding, in both texts, the author uses the tree to symbolize loss. In To Kill a Mockingbird the author uses the tree that was originally giving gifts from Boo Radley to Scout and Jem had gotten plugged, courtesy of Booââ¬â¢s father, Nathan. When Nathan did this he was basically cutting off Booââ¬â¢s communication between Boo and the kids. ââ¬Å"Trees dying, you plug them with cement when theyââ¬â¢re sick.â⬠(Lee 70). nevertheless, this tree was perfectly fine. Nathan Radley was not content with Boo going outside and leaving ââ¬Å"giftsâ⬠in trees for the neighborhood. He was, however, content with Boo staying locked in the house. Not only that but in A Separate Peace the tree that once symbolized the bond between Gene and Finny, now symbolize the loss between a friend and what he loves. Organic Compounds free essay sample
Organic compound From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Methane is one of the simplest organic compoundsAn organic compound is any member of a large class of chemical compounds whose molecules contain carbon. For historical reasons discussed below, a few types of carbon-containing compounds such as carbonates, simple oxides of carbon and cyanides, as well as the allotropes of carbon such as diamond and graphite, are considered inorganic. The distinction between organic and inorganic carbon compounds, while useful in organizing he vast subject of chemistry s somewhat arbitrary . [1] Organic chemistry is the science concerned with all aspects of organic compounds. Organic synthesis is the methodology of their preparation. Contents [hide] 1 History 1. 1 Vitalism 1. 2 Modern classification 2 Classification 2. 1 Natural compounds 2. 2 Synthetic compounds 3 Nomenclature 4 Databases 5 Structure determination 6 See also 7 References 8 External links [edit] History [edit] Vitalism The name organic is historical, dating back to the 1st century. [citation needed] For any centuries, Western alchemists believed in vitalism. This is the theory that certain compounds could only be synthesized from their classical elements â⬠Earth, Water, Air and Fire â⬠by action of a life-force (vis vitals) possessed only by organisms. Vitalism taught that these organic compounds were fundamentally different from the inorganic compounds that could be obtained from the elements by chemical manipulation. Vitalism survived for a while even after the rise of modern atomic theory and the replacement of the Aristotelian elements by those we know today. It first came under to occur only in living organisms, from cyanogen. [citation needed] A more decisive experiment was Wohlers 1828 synthesis of urea from the inorganic salts potassium cyanate and ammonium sulfate. Urea had long been considered to be an organic compound as it was known to occur only in the urine of living organisms. Wohlers experiments were followed by many others, where increasingly complex organic substances were produced from inorganic ones without the involvement of any living organism. [citation needed] [edit] Modern classification Even after vitalism had been disproved, the distinction between organic and inorganic compounds has been retained through the present. The modern meaning of organic compound is any one of them that contains a significant amount of carbon even though many of the organic compounds known today have no connection whatsoever with any substance found in living organisms. There is no official definition of an organic compound. Some text books define an organic compound as one containing one or more C-H bonds; others include C-C onds in the definition. Others state that if a molecule contains carbon it is organic. Even the broader definition of carbon-containing molecules requires the exclusion of carbon-containing alloys (including steel), a relatively small number of carbon- containing compounds such as metal carbonates and carbonyls, simple oxides of carbon and cyanides, as well as the allotropes of carbon and simple carbon halides and sulfides, which are usually considered to be inorganic. The C-H definition excludes compounds which are historically and practically onsidered to be organic. Neither urea nor oxalic acid are organic by this definition, yet they were two key compounds in the vitalism debate. The IIJPAC Blue Book on organic nomenclature specifically mentions urea[3] and oxalic acid. [4] Other compounds lacking C-H bonds that are also traditionally considered to be organic include benzenehexol, mesoxalic acid, and carbon tetrachloride. Mellitic acid, which contains no C-H bonds, is considered to be a possible organic substance in Martian soil. All do, however, contain C-C bonds. [5] The C-H bond only rule also leads to somewhat arbitrary divisions in sets of carbon- fluorine compounds, as for example Teflon is considered by this rule inorganic but Tefzel organic; similarly many Halons are considered inorganic while the rest are organic. For these and other reasons, most sources consider C-H compounds to be only a subset of organic compounds. To summarize: Most carbon-containing compounds are organic, and most compounds with a C-H bond are organic. Not all organic compounds necessarily contain C-H bonds (e. g. urea). See Classification of organic compounds Organic compounds may be classified in a variety of ways. One major distinction is between natural and synthetic compounds. Organic compounds can also be classified or subdivided by the presence of heteroatoms, e. g. organometallic compounds which feature bonds between carbon and a metal, and organophosphorus compounds which feature bonds between carbon and a phosphorus. Another distinction, based upon the size of organic compounds, distinguishes between small molecules and polymers. [edit] Natural compounds Natural compounds refer to those that are produced by plants or animals. Many of these are still extracted from natural sources because they would be far too expensive to be produced artificially. Examples include most sugars, some alkaloids and terpenoids, certain nutrients such as vitamin 812, and in general, those natural products with large or stereoisometrically complicated molecules present in reasonable concentrations in living organisms. Further compounds of prime importance in biochemistry are antigens, carbohydrates, enzymes, hormones, lipids and fatty acids, neurotransmitters, nucleic cids, proteins, peptides and amino acids, lectins, vitamins and fats and oils. edit] Synthetic compounds Compounds that are prepared by reaction of other compounds are referred to as synthetic. They may be either compounds that already are found in plants or animals (semi synthetic compounds), or those that do not occur naturally. Most polymers (a category which includes all plastics and rubbers), are organic compounds. [edit] Nomenclature The IUPAC nomenclature o f organic compounds slightly differs from the CAS nomenclature. [edit] Databases The CAS database is the most comprehensive repository for data on organic compounds. The search tool SciFinder is offered. The Beilstein database contains information on 9. 8 million substances, covers the scientific literature from 1771 to the present, and is today accessible via Crossfire. Structures and a large diversity of physical and chemical properties is available for each substance, with reference to original literature. PubChem contains 18. 4 million entries on compounds and especially covers the field of medicinal chemistry.

Marketing Segmentation Strategy Free Sample for Students
Questions: 1.Multisegment Targeting Offers Many Benefits to Firms, as well as Many Additional Costs. List two benefits and four Costs of Multisegment Targeting. Provide Examples and Elaboration.2.Name and Describe four Categories of New Products.3.List the Four Stages of the Product life Cycle. Then describe the Promotional Strategies used in each Stage.4.Describe all four tools of the Promotional mix to Promote the Product. Answers: Benefits and costs of multi-segmenting For a company to succeed there is the need for segmenting the market so that the parts of the market can be served best and makes the company profitable at the same time. The need for strategies that enhance the best relationships with the right customers is always a priority for many firms that are competing[1]. The traditional mass marketing that used to be a custom for most companies is now being abandoned. The companies are now producing products that are tailored to meet specific needs of the customers. It has been noted that consumers have varying tastes and preferences and as such segmenting and targeting such customers have benefited most companies that engage in such practices of segmentation[2]. One of the advantages of segmentation is that it increases the focus on the enterprise. Segmentation has the power of enabling a company focus on specific market segments. The returns in most cases increase with increases in attention[3]. A good example is the automobile industry li ke Toyota who started focusing on sectors that deal with small cars, a move that has seen Toyota rise globally. Multi-segmenting increases the competitiveness of the company[4]. Once a company focuses on a particular segment it means that such a firm will innovate products that suit such a market making the business more competitive as compared to the competitors[5]. A good illustration is the Johnsons baby products that segmented the baby market and specializes in baby stuffs a move that has seen Johnson claim a large portion of the market share globally. However, there are some limitations with multi segmenting and are referred to as the costs[6]. With the geographic segmentation, it is limited in scope in the sense that it generalizes the tastes and preferences of consumers. The geographic segmentation requires combination with another strategy so as to be effective. Segments, on the other hand, tend to be small which may affect the operation of a firm. In the case that the marke t served is small, it means the company will experience low turnover which threatens a companys viability in the long-run. In a market that has many brands, it may be risky segmenting such markets due to the many competitors providing such products. As a consequence, there are additional costs that reduce the profits for the firm. Lastly, in the case of a new product, it may be deemed risky segmenting such a market as no research has been conducted on such new products[7]. Convincing the consumers to utilize such commodities may take extra effort so as to segment such a market. 2.Categories of new products Products can get categorized into various classifications depending on the level they are placed on the market. One category is that of new to world products where a company goes an extra mile producing a product that has never existed before[8]. In this category, the firm diversifies the product, and in most cases, the products are only new to the firm but not to the already existing the market[9]. A good illustration is the Coca-Cola Company that is well known for the good quality of its beverages. If Coca Cola decides to diversify into snacks and cookies, then these new products would be classified as the new for the Coca-Cola Company. The second classification is the product line extension which is the companys additional of more products to the already existing stock. In this category, a company develops a brand that stands out among others regarding color, shape, and texture. In the example of Coca-Cola Company, as it has been observed, the company is producing an additional product such as mineral water and juices and as such would get considered as additional products[10]. With product improvements, it entails making amendments to the existing product that is in the marketplace. In most cases, the change may be minor or major and may involve developing the features of the products to suit the changing needs of the consumers. In some cases, the process is aimed at updating the products so that they meet the standards that are in the market or it may be the case of technological improvement making the commodities to be improved at the same time. Such upgrades may make the product competitive and increase the benefits that consumers can get from such a product. A good example is the Microsoft that has always been updating the windows, for instance, there was Windows 7, then Windows 8 and currently the consumers are using Windows 10[11]. Finally, product repositioning involves changing the image of a product in the marketplace; however, the product in most instances is an existing product. In most instances, there is communication that is intended to depict the range of benefits from such a product. Reposition of the product is also followed by changing the design of the product either through the mode of packaging. A good illustration is when in the past, Lucozade was meant for the sick, but as of today, it has been repositioned to serve the athletes. 3.Product lifecycle Consumers have the tendency of purchasing products in the markets worth millions of money every year. The products purchased just like the human beings have a lifecycle meaning that there are those products that exit the market earlier as compared to the others. The new products, on the other hand, have the advantage of being dominant in the market and gaining popularity. Most companies, on the other hand, have invested heavily in product development after realizing that their products have a limited lifespan and it is, therefore, their responsibility to make sure they remain relevant in the market[12]. As products move and evolve along the four stages, various stages should be employed to maintain the success of the product. The promotional strategies that can be employed are as follows: Introduction When launching a new product in the market, the main objective of the firm will be to inform the target group of the existence of such a product. Launching a new product is the most expensive stage for any company. At this stage, it will be critical to employ informative advertising such as the radio, television, and magazines[13]. Growth At this stage, it is characterized by increase in the sales volume and profits. It is at this stage that the company enjoys the economies of scale which has the effect of pushing the profits margins up. The firms as a result of reaping the profits have the advantage of spending money on the promotional strategies with the aim of maximizing their potential. Since the product has already gained acceptance from the target market, the firm will use a strategy that aims at increasing the loyalty of the customers[14]. Maturity At maturity stage, the product is already established, and in most instances, the manufacturer aims at maintaining the market share. It is at this juncture that competition is at its highest among the firms and businesses are advised to invest wisely in any market they wish to penetrate. The product should also be in a position to undergo modifications or upgrades which can make them more competitive in the market. Since the product experiences more competition from the other brands, there is need to engage in persuasive advertising to entice their clients to use their products over those produced by the competitors. The benefits or advantages of using a product should be communicated to the audience clearly[15]. Decline The market for the product at this stage begins to decline a stage referred to as the decline stage. The decline could be associated with a market getting saturated or because the consumers have switched to a particular product. The decline stage though inevitable, it still provides opportunities for companies to continue reaping profits through reducing the costs of production or firms venturing into cheaper markets. Reminder advertising would be favorable at this stage reminding consumers that the product still exists. 4.Tools of promotional mix One of the instruments is advertising where it is necessary that awareness of the new program should be created either through the flyers conveying the message on weight loss. Advertising can also assume the dimensions of the media through the television, radio, and internet[16]. Sales promotion is also another useful tool. In this case, since the program is very in the market, it would be necessary to have the customers believe that there will be price cuts may be 15% off would be a great deal and attract many customers[17]. Public relations are aimed at creating a lasting impression about the company. Holding a charity campaign for the neighborhood may create a good deal for the new program. Publicity may entail inviting some prominent person who gets featured in advertising campaigns using the new products[18]. Personal selling has always held the compelling power of convincing the customers to purchase the products[19]. Conducting door to door campaigns informing people of the new product and its advantages and benefits has the power of inducing some people to join the program[20]. References Akers, Helen. 2017.
